Get To Know Me Blog

Hi everyone, long time no see. Sorry, I haven’t posted anything recently. I handed in my project at the start of the month, which was this blog. Now that is out of the way, I can focus on creating more content. Well, a couple of days ago, I thought it would be a good idea to share some more information about myself as I am sharing my thoughts about the world with you all and I have found some questions that I will be answering for you guys to learn more about me. So, let’s get started.

1. What is your middle name?

My middle name is Christine, which is also my nan’s name.

2. Share your favourite subject in school.

My favourite subject was English. No doubt about it. I have always loved literature and found that writing was a way for me to express my feelings and ideas effectively. I was never the smart kid but still found myself in the top set for English in primary school (we all knew this never meant much as there were only ever two classes). When I left primary school, I was confident in my ability to write passages from my imagination and I used this to my advantage in secondary school. I left with a 7 in English Language last year which I was so proud of, only later to find out that I was 2 marks away from an 8. For those of you who did not do the new GCSEs, a 7 is the equivalent of an A and an 8 is the equivalent of an A*. However, I was happy that I got a 7 and a 6 in English Language and Literature (6 being a B) and a distinction in my English speaking exam in Year 10.

3. What is your favourite drink?

A cold drink must be lemonade. A hot drink, tea.

4. What is your current favourite song?

I have a lot of favourite songs. One of them is Supreme by Robbie Williams. Another is Break My Stride by Matthew Wilder. I have always loved Robbie; he is a real inspiration of mine and his remarkable change in life choices is a path that loads more celebrities should follow. Break My Stride is just a catchy song and a frequently played track from my 80s playlist on Spotify.

5. What would you name your children?

Honestly, I have no idea. I know some people plan their children’s names years and years in advance, but I believe that it should be a joint decision between the parents. I have no intention of having kids soon (Only 17 remember) so it’s not something that I panic about before I go to sleep at night. However, I do want it to be something normal and easy to spell. Now my name is not that hard to spell or say, for that matter. But I still get called Danielle or have my name shortened to Dani. I don’t want my kids to have the same problem so my kids are going to have simple names that don’t need to be shortened just because their friends can’t be bothered to use their whole names [sobs lightly in the corner].

6. What is your favourite book?

My favourite book has to be One day in December. I found this book in ASDA in 2018 and I thought ‘why not’. I firmly believe this book started my obsession with romance novels because it was just so brilliantly written and made me fall in love with it. It is set over 10 years and recalls moments of the two main characters' lives. Between roommates and snobby, overprotective ex-husbands, it follows the two main characters as they navigate through 10 years of ups and downs. My description sounds terrible, but it is an amazing book and brings on the waterworks like nothing else I have ever read. I would recommend you read it; if you do, let me know what you think of it.

7. What is your favourite colour?

I find black a complementary colour and you can pair it with any other colour.

8. What is your favourite animal?

Penguins. They are honestly so cute, and they mate for life. How adorable is that?

9. What is your favourite perfume?

I wasn’t going to include this one at first because I thought that I didn’t have a favourite perfume, but I do. Its called Nina Ricci- Bella. The scent is green apples in a bottle shaped like a green apple. I bought it in the duty-free at Gatwick last year when I was going on holiday and wore it every day. I am so in love with it.

10. What is your favourite holiday?

My favourite has to be Christmas. I get excited about Christmas and always wake up at about 5 am. Around Christmas, we also have a lot of family birthdays. My dad’s birthday is in November, my mum has hers 3 days before Christmas and mine is 12 days after Christmas so it ends up being a really expensive period of the year. Christmas is also the reason why I do like my birthday as it is supposedly the day the wise men met Jesus. I am not religious (not Christian anyway) but it makes my birthday sound cool.

11.Have you been out of the country?

Yes, I have. I have been to Florida numerous times. I have also been to New York once and France twice. I would love to go to Austria or Australia at one point. Quite a lot of my dad’s family live in Australia, some I have never met so I would love to travel over there one time to meet them. Australia also has Quokkas which are some of the cutest animals EVER, so that is another reason.

12. Do you speak any different languages?

I did GCSE French, however, that was over a year ago now, so I doubt that I remember much. I did pass French though so that is something I should be proud of, otherwise no I don’t.

13. Do you have any siblings?

No, I don’t. I was the only girl in my class who was an only child. I was also the only one out of all my friends who didn’t have any siblings so I did feel a bit left out and felt like I couldn’t make any input to their conversations about their siblings because I didn’t have any. I feel like being an only child has made me more independent in the sense that I can be left alone. I have been able to fend for myself quite well but it would be nice to have someone else to talk to once in a while.

14. What is your favourite store?

Waterstones. I love to be surrounded by books. I did my work experience there in Year 10 and it was one of the best weeks of my life. No school and around books all day. It is my happy place. My haven.

15. What is your favourite restaurant?

This is a tough one because I don’t go to many restaurants. There aren’t that many that I like near where I live. I am going to have to say Frankie and Benny’s because Arron and I normally go there for a date night. There is also a nice Chinese restaurant near Arron that we have been to a couple of times. Otherwise, I don’t go to restaurants unless it is a special occasion.

16. Did you like school?

Yes and No. Yes because I like learning and I felt in my last year at school I was coming into my element more (Typical, huh?). I also made some nice friends there that made it worthwhile. However, no because I think more should be done in school. In my school, we had special members of staff who’s purpose was to sort out any issues that students have but they would get annoyed at the number of problems they had to deal with. I’m sorry, but isn’t that their job? Yeah, it can get annoying, dealing with the same problems day after day, but it is for the good of the students who they have to care for 5 days a week. I didn’t feel confident going to talk to people at school purely because I knew no one would listen to me. That’s how I ended up being quite upset for most of Year 10 and part of Year 11. So, I liked school, just didn’t like going in because issues were never sorted, and punishment wasn’t effective enough.

17. Who are some of your favourite YouTubers?

So, I only really watch 4 but I do tend to watch others as well. So my favourite YouTubers are Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell. They are such a great couple and hilarious people. Next, we have Zoe Sugg and Alfie Deyes. Again, amazing people and adorable together. However, I also watch WillNE (Funny guy. Watch his angry airline passengers videos), and Simon Minter and his girlfriend, Talia. The last two I have recently started watching and I love their relationship. It shows you don’t have to be clingy all the time to have a stable relationship.

18. What is your favourite movie?

Now some who know me would probably say, Harry Potter. But it’s not. As much as I love Harry Potter, I think I am going to have to say Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island. Now, I used to be terrified of this movie when I was younger. It was one of the darker ones and it scared the life out of me (I hate scary movies. I never watched a horror film in my life, never want to. I don’t care if it is not real, it makes me panic that some maniac is watching me with his chainsaw hidden in the bushes somewhere.) Anyway, during lockdown I started watching some old Scooby films (Never too old for Scooby-Doo. It’s wasted on the youth. Not a fan of these new Scooby TV Series though. Films: great. TV Series: Not so much) and I decided to watch Zombie Island. I am obsessed. It has the best soundtrack and is just pure amazing and they made a sequel after 20 years which I want to watch now.

19. What are some of your favourite TV Shows?

Nothing To Declare. This focuses on customs in Australia and it shows how stupid some people are when they travel to the country. Love that show. Traffic cops and Highway Patrol. Traffic cops are filmed in the UK and Highway Patrol is in Australia but they are both great. Highway Patrol is the lunchtime show that we have been watching during lockdown while my parents work from home. Friends. I have probably re-watched Friends 3 times on Comedy Central over the last few months.

20. What phone do you have?

Huawei. I did use to have an iPhone but then one day, I was fed up with Apple and wanted to change to Android. To say my dad was ecstatic that day would be an understatement.

21. How tall are you?

Either 5’7 or 5’8. I am not too sure only that I am taller than the average.

22. Do you have any pets?

Yes, I do. I have always had pets growing up. I have 3 cats and a dog. My cats are Shadow who is 9 and Whiskey and Caspar who is 7. My dog, Cheddar is one next week. Also, if you can guess where I got my dog’s name from, you are a legend and I love you. Before anyone asks, no I did not get it from the fridge when making a sandwich, though I do know why you would think that.

23. Tea or Coffee?

See, I have a problem now as I like both. I discovered that I do indeed like coffee a few days ago. I am going to say tea only because, I have liked it longer but I do like both.

24. What is your favourite film genre?

I like happy endings.

25. Who is your celebrity crush?

Tom Felton!

26. Favourite season?

Winter. I hate the heat. I’d much rather dress up warm with a nice cup of tea and cuddle under some blankets then feel like I’m melting.

27. How do you pass the time?

I either watch YouTube videos or read fanfictions. I have become obsessed with Dramione (Draco and Hermione from Harry Potter) again so that is how I have been spending lockdown. I get quite passionate about the ship as my mum would know from the number of rants I have. Oops.

28. Favourite make of car?

Vauxhall Corsa. It’s my first car.

29. Favourite childhood TV show?

Scooby-Doo.

30. Do you like surprises?

I hate not knowing what is going to happen. I sit and think about the unknown quite a lot. It comes from my need to plan everything way so I know it will run smoothly. I hate not having a plan.

And that’s it. I hope that has given a bigger insight to me as a person. I may do something similar to this in the future because I loved it. It made me think about certain things because I don’t have definite favourite films or books or songs as they change quite frequently. I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I have.
